I love helping people

I sometimes wonder to myself...how? How, in the space of one year, did I change from Chemical Engineering to Psychology-Sociology. Well, the sociology interests me more than any subject I could possibly take. But why Psych?

I was reminded tonight.

I got a call from a very close friend of mine. Very reluctant at first, she asked me to listen to her. I listened. I helped her. I actually made a difference to her.

People can say they're becoming doctors to TRULY help sick people. Well doctors can only help the sick and people suffering hypochondriasis. We, the psychologists, help people whos life has truly been hurt. People with nowhere else to go. We help the scared, the lonely, the weak, the helpless, the afflicted, the lost, the suffering, the world! Whenever you help someone who is emotionally hurt, and you give them advice and they thank you for it over and over again, you are doing the work that I am striving to master. That feeling you get after they say thank you, and tell you that they feel 10x more happier, is all the thanks one could need. So next time you help someone, remember the impact you're making on their life. Remember that just by having a dialogue with someone, you can cure something that has been eating away at them.
