Fight for a life, but not a... by ~ArubanoTribalFire:iconArubanoTribalFire:

Never fear, never condemn the eternal fight of your life,
It is better to have lost the good fight, then not to have fought
But do not let the fight of life turn to strife

Many men have gazed fearfully down the blade of a knife
To quell their nerves, it is rumoured they pondered this thought:
Never fear, never condemn the eternal fight of your life.

With this sole thought, they manage to return to a waiting wife
They fight for naught but themselves, dreams never ceasing to be saught
But do not let the fight of life turn to strife.

Despite what is written, life with love is rife
When you do not fight the good fight, no matter what you thought, you will be distraught.
Never fear, never condemn the eternal fight of your life.

Heed my warning, choose not the safe life or the halflife,
Instead follow the path of least support
But do not let the fight of life turn to strife.

So, my noble traveller, once you rise to the afterlife
and encounter angels or demons, these words you should retort:
Never fear, never condemn the eternal fight of your life,
But do not let the fight of life turn to strife

"Fight for a life, but not a life of Strife."

Decided to give myself a bit of a challenge with the rhyming but had a lot of fun with it in the end :-)

This poem is about 'fighting the good fight.' Essentially it tells of one should always fight to live their dreams, but not to go so far as to destroy them.

This poem was written for =Mattiello's competition. I highly recommend entering, as it was extremely fun to learn how to write in this style! Here's the link: [link]

You can also find a link to the contest in my new journal. Let me know what you think!
